Software Tester (Manual and Automation Testing)

MetaMatrix Solutions is hiring a software tester for its own team; this is not a client placement. You will make sure the web applications, APIs and products we build across our digital, AI, healthcare and biometric solutions work as intended before they reach users, combining careful manual testing with automated tests that run in the delivery pipeline.

You will work closely with developers, business analysts and project managers, as part of a remote team.

What you will do

• Review requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria, and raise gaps and questions early
• Write and maintain test plans, test scenarios and test cases, traceable to the requirements
• Run functional, regression, integration and smoke tests on web applications, APIs and mobile views
• Design, build and maintain automated UI and API test suites, and run them in the CI/CD pipeline
• Log defects with clear steps, evidence and severity, and retest the fixes
• Prepare test data and keep test environments ready for each release
• Report test progress, coverage and quality risks to the project team, and support user acceptance testing
• Help the team improve its testing practices and build quality in from the start

• At least 5 years of experience in software testing, covering both manual and automation testing
• Writing test plans, test scenarios and test cases from requirements and user stories
• Hands-on test automation with Selenium WebDriver, Playwright or Cypress, in Java, JavaScript / TypeScript or Python
• API testing with Postman, REST Assured or a similar tool
• SQL, to check data in the back end
• Defect tracking and test management in Jira, Azure DevOps or a similar tool
• Working in Agile / Scrum teams
• Clear written and spoken English, and the discipline to work remotely during fixed hours

Nice to have

• Running automated tests in CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps Pipelines, GitHub Actions or Jenkins)
• Performance testing with JMeter or k6
• Mobile testing with Appium
• Accessibility (WCAG) or basic security testing
• ISTQB certification
• Testing healthcare (HL7 / FHIR) or biometric systems
